Why does my digital TV keep pausing?

I have a 19" flat screen, digital TV that's attached to an antenna. Since the DTV switch my TV keeps pausing. The pausing is similar to watching a DVD. Can someone explain why it's doing that and what I can do to make it stop? Also, do I still need the antenna since digital TV has gone into effect? Thanks!

Assuming the source of your DTV is free to air and not cable then the cause of your 'pauses' is either poor reception or
interference from external electrical devices.

You can check for poor reception by going into the menu of your digital receiver and looking at the signal strength.
You might also notice that the 'pausing' occurs on some channels but less or not at all on others. This can occur
because you have better signal strength from these transmitters.

External electrical devices which start and stop abruptly can cause digital TV to pause. Examples are electric welders,
car ignitions, RF heaters and sometimes refrigerators starting up etc.

Both these problems can be resolved by installing a better antenna system.

Of course you need an antenna. The digital TV signal is still propagated over RF and actually now a great antenna system is even more important that ever, which brings me to your problem.

The picture pausing or breaking up is characteristic of your TV getting a marginal signal. You need to have someone who is capable of evaluating take a look and suggest what needs to be done to improve it a little.
