i have a 1986 monte carlo ss and it has been running fine. THE check engine randomly would come on but it would leave after like 30 seconds for like 3 days and then stopped but it has been on for the past week . Today after work i turned on the car but when i put it into drive and pressed the gas pedal it died on me. IT turns on and stays on until i press the gas and then it just gives up and dies. The farthest it will go is like 3 mph if i go past that it dies. I was thinking it could be the carb and one of my coworkers said it could be the something with distribuator not letting it idle. Any suggestions? poor car i had to leave it all by itself at HD.
