I recently embarked on a three-hour journey to another city. I drove mostly between 60 and 80 km/h after which I stopped the car and saw no apparent problems. I then drove it approx. at a 100km/h over a motorway and after a short town ride I parked it and noticed the water was boiling out of the radiator (pressure cap). After it had cooled down, I topped the water that had boiled out and later went on several short town rides without any incident. When I later went on the motorway again, I got stuck in a traffic jam and noticed steam emitting from the bonnet, so I stopped quickly and let out the steam and bled the radiator of air while refilling it with water. Then I drove three hours back to my town without incident, but when I stopped, the water was boiling out again. Earlier that day the carburettor also seemed to have an overflow problem. What is going on, and could the two be connected? I drive a Peugeot 405.
