Why does my car lose power?

Hi, I have a 2001 suzuki jimny...every so often she will lose power, never cuts out though..the engine light comes on after a symbol of a car with a lock around it? think it represents the emobiliser..anyway i was told by my mechanic it was the oxygen sensor so he replaced it but the problem is still there???? I turn the car off when it happens, leave for a few minutes & start up and its fine again?? any idea guys..Please help
