Why Does my Car click when I put it in reverse...?

I have a 1987 Toyota Camry and whenever I put it in reverse it clicks not continually, it just does it once and it is annoying...it comes from under the hood and it sound like its coming from the transmission...has anyone else ever had this problem and if so is it something I should worry about?
