I drive a 1991 Cadillac Seville with a 4.9 V8. A ground wire burned out and took out several electrically controlled parts, such as the fuel injectors. I replaced the ground wire and all the parts the diagnostics test said were bad. Now the car runs just fine in open-loop, but the second it heats up enough to go into closed-loop, it starts spitting and sputtering if I'm not punching the gas. I bypassed it to keep itself from going into closed-loop by hanging the temperature sending unit outside of the block, but now the fan never kicks on. What are some possible solutions, and can I / would it be safe to just run a toggle switch to the fan?
sounds good old-guy, i have a sending unit outside of the block to keep the car from knowing the real temperature so that it doesn't go into closed loop. It's all one big computer, and not a fun car to work on
