why does my 22 month old cry and whine only around me?

My 22 month old son only whines and cries around me. He don't play, when he lays down he has to have me lay with him. He follows me everywhere! He freaks out if i walk out of the room. He constantly hangs on me. Why does he do this? He is playful and happy with his dad and grandparents but not me. He's happy with me but very clingy. How do i change his behavior?
 
He is clingy to you probably because he is always with you and relying on you which is pretty typical/normal for kiddos that age with their mamas. If he cries with you or has fits it might be because he gets more attention from you for doing it.
