...Cold Weather? My Intrepid makes this sort of whining sound when it is started. It only started doing this once the temperature dropped (Michigan). On warmer days...it doesn't make the noise. Now...it also makes a noise like a belt is screeching...it will do that for maybe 45 secs to 1 min, then stop. Also, once the car warms up the noise stops. Here is a video from youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWeFE8rvPRE ) ...someone has the same type of vehicle and their car makes the same noise. My car runs good...but I want to tackle small problems and keep it running smoothly for as long as possible. Don't need any sarcastic comments about getting a new car...I just fnished paying a car note, and not interested in getting another one. I like Intrepids...I've had one before, and like the feel and style of it. 
Any advice as to what this could be and how much repairs may cost. I'm calling a couple of mechanics in the morning.
