why does my 1992 honda wont turn on in summertime?

why 992 honda does not start sometime when its hot out side(summertime), sometime the console lights will flash. I just pull the key out and try it again and it mostly works. does the heat affect the ignition switch/ steering wheel?as in warping the switch? the mechanics everywhere we asked have no idea or never heard of this, but other people have a similar problems in there cars. thanks
