I have an "01 Jeep Cherokee Sport and have noticed that my A/C blows fairly cool (not cold) for approximately 30-40 minutes while driving but then gets warm-hot, then it will go back to cool again. I cannot figure out what could be causing this. Any idea's?
Additional: I'm just about 100% positive that I need a new heater coil. I've been trying to put this off. I know this because an auto shop told me and my windows get fogged up all the time, even without the heat on. Can this be a contributing factor? When my compressor kicks on (when the defroster or the A/C is on) the RPM's jump up a bit and the car jerks. If I am stopped with my foot on the break, it feels like the I tapped the gas pedal when the compressor kicks on. If I'm slowing down to stop and this happens, it almost feels like the breaks are failing.
I am hoping that I need a freon recharge and not a new compressor. Any rough estimates to replace a compressor on this model vehicle?
