Why does medical information differ so much from country to country when it

comes to childbirth? Isn't science one of the few things that doesn't have a nationality?! Although medical information is influenced by government/politics, surely the research should have similar results across the board? Why would a Spanish pregnant woman show different results from an English pregnant woman? The reason I ask is because since being pregnant in the UK, I feel like I've been given information almost contrary to what I know from doctors at home (or even in other countries I've visited). Where I come from, studies have shown that you can somewhat predict the labour of a woman based on the women in her family, as it is genetic to an extent. All the women in my family have very small and narrow pelvises and as such all of them were either rushed for an emergency c-section, or had very delayed labours that never progressed and force had to be used, etc... you get the idea. My mother had a more difficult labour with my brother (her 2nd) than with me, and normally the 2nd baby is 'easier'. Or so they say.

In the UK, I keep getting told that you can't predict labour based on genetics. While my Dutch friend who's also pregnant says that in The Netherlands women are told that they can predict... maybe not 100% but chances are higher or lean to one side more than the other.

How can Spain, Argentina, Dubai The Netherlands and Germany give completely different information to the UK? They all seem to be in unison, apart from the information given in the UK. It scares me that I am being bullied into a miserable, long and painful labour because they refuse to recognize what part genetics can play. I've already been told my pelvis was small!! And yet still have a midwife who says "yes, but it can all change in the VERY LAST minute". Like, really??! You're willing to take that risk?!

I'm now 22 weeks pregnant, scared, and feel like no one will listen to me.

PS This is my 2nd pregnancy. My first resulted in a C-Section... yet the midwives are still hoping I'll deliver naturally the 2nd time around.
