Why does it say +$30, and -$30 on on my Sims 2 Open for Business?

I have a salon and it will say plus 30 dollars and minus 30 dollars (or whatever amount I'm supposed to be making) at the same time. So I dont seem to be making any kind of profit. What am I doing wrong?
