Why does he always debate about whose HOTTER?

My boyfriend is always saying he's hotter... things like “you`re just mad because I look better today...“
You would think he was some sort of metro-sexual guy but he's not.... he's more of a bigger... 'jock-y' guy and to hear him say this type of stuff is just odd.... he says he's joking but he does say it all time...

What gives?
 
I am guessing that he acts this way to make himself feel better. Otherwise he really actually thinks he is just that amazing, and he should realize that he's with someone super amazing! I am guessing that he's not really kidding though..unfortunately when some one says something mean (especially repeatedly) and says they're kidding right after, well ususally they're not. They just say they're kidding to either get away with the mean thing they just said, or realize that what they said was rude and try not to deal with it by saying...what I was only kidding. Men are so weird and egotistical sometimes, as long as you know that you're a beautiful girl and that he's lucky to have you and him acting this way doesn't effect your relationship too much then you're probably okay. You might want to just let him know (if it is hurting you or making you feel bad/upset) that you don't like him making comments like that. Tell him when you guys are alone and it's some where quiet so he has to take it seriously and doesn't get distracted. Good luck!!!!
