Why does Ford have a car that gets 65 MPG yet they will only sell it in Europe?

The 65 MPG Car the U.S. Can't Have

Because they can't make a profit selling it here. Plus, the government taxes the @#$% out of diesel, which is what this car runs on. It's still oil-based, but it's "clean diesel."

Ford opted not to sell it here b/c there was no market for it. It's too expensive, and diesel fuel is MORE expensive than octane-based gasoline.

They did a lot of market research before coming to that decision. Remember, Obama's plan to "tax big oil" is part of the reason you can't drive a 65 mpg American car here!! Those diesel taxes are paying off!!! (/sarcasm off)

it's because the greenies on the hill passed a law banning diesel in light duty cars/trucks, even though with new technology it is more environmentally safe, they still keep this law on the books.

Because they have stricter guidelines for fuel efficiencies than we do. The US is one of the worst on environmental issues.

Why don't write Ford and tell them you would buy that car and if they get enough request for that then they would do that. I know they don't really care about you or anyone else but when you offer them money for something they will probably do it. Its like you walking into work everyday. You don't really care about your boss or his business but they do give money so it keeps you coming back and working hard. Thats how that works. Ford is not a charity or some communist enterprise (are you surprised!) but a private business that has freedom and that means that they can work on and do whatever they want. So if you complain that they are not selling it here its because they don't want to because they don't have any incentive just like if your boss wouldn't pay you anymore because you would not have an incentive to work.

Besides its diesel and Euro so it would remind people of the spice girls.

My guess is that it won't meet strict US environmental or safety regulations.

Because they are tied to the oil industry and the collaborate to fix mpg and oil supplies for the benefit of them both.

Its a DIESEL

The ALGORE crowed has banned diesel cars in most of the US

This is part of liberal stupidity, idiots like AlGore think that a few particulates coming out the tailpipe of a diesel (which is 20-30% more efficient than gasoline) is going to destroy the planet somehow

So we are stuck with gas sucking cars

Thanks ALGOR
Thanks LIBERALS !

Because we, in Europe, buy cars that have high mileage performance.

We have had lots of models over the years that achieve 50mpg plus.

Even my VW Passat in 1980 I used to get 40 mpg on all journeys. Thats 28 years ago.
