Why does everyone on the TV show Dexter, wear purple?

I watch this show every Sunday night, and in almost every episode this season, all the characters wear purple! Why is this? Does it have anything to do with showing support for the LGBT suicides that have been going on?(i read something online about that)

Please let me know if you have noticed it too, and what your opinions are about it.
