Why does car always display the time?

I got a new battery installed in my car last evening. When I got in the car it seemed strange to see the time displayed since it never is shown if the ignition key is out. I left the car at the shop overnight that I live a mile from and someone drove me there and to work today. I am going to get the car now and hope it will start. After getting this new battery why is the time displayed all the time even without the ignition key in and should I expect the car to start as a result of this?
 
A lot of vehicles will display the time. If it is a LED display, usually it will go out after a few seconds once the key is turned off.
