why does apple say html 5 is great?

what i hear from apple is that with html 5 i do not need to download plug-ins but when i went to their site, it asked me to download quicktime when i wanted to view their videos. i thought html 5 would not require from me to download quicktime
 
LOL, that's pretty funny.

But silliness aside, html 5 is still pretty new and under-implemented in most places. I suspect that Apple is waiting to see for sure (even though they're telling us it will take off) that html 5 will make flash and video plugins obsolete before they redesign their website.

My opinion: flash will stay, but all these different video plugins will disappear for the most part, except for an oddball here and there.
