Why do younger guys have a warped view of what a performance car is?

Just like the question says. I'm not against imports. I think the 350Z, Mitsubishi Evo, 370Z, GT-R are solid performance cars just like the Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, etc. I'm just so confused as to how younger guys think a Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer (not the Evo), and Nissan Sentra are performance cars when they are no where near qualifying as performance cars? Can anybody shed some light on this?

I think a big part of this was caused by there parents who owned Jap cars to begin with. It's what they grew up with and all they know (which isn't much).
You also have to remember they are an 'instant gratification' bunch, if it's not wrapped in plastic and a 'direct fit' they are out of luck.
They have also been brainwashed by cable TV to a large part. The shows on there about building any sort of a real car make everything seem like it costs a lot of money. Some of this is true but a lot is pure B.S.

i'm not like that, how dare you! :O

jks, but yea i don't get how some people like civics... not all young people though, i know some friends who despise civics too, but like stuff like evos, gt-rs, z cars, etc.

i have nothing against civics and all those cars, but if you start souping it up, then its kinda too much.
