Why do you think the sport NFL is called American Football?

and hence why the real football is called soccer in the U.S
Is there a reason?
Because I rarely see the ball touch the foot in NFL, so why call it Football?
 
alright smartass, when they first invented the game, there was no such thing as a forward pass or laterals etc. Actually kicking the ball was not only worth more points than anyhting else, it was the only way to score points. Also, the ball was much more circular back then. Get your head out of your ass fuckface.
 
Because it started out as similar to rugby where you kick the ball hence football and all other countries besides north america call Soccer futball or football whichever.
