I personally think it had a lot to do with American indifference such as not wanting to waste ammunition or American soldiers because quite frankly it is not as if they were not able to. I know in some records it says that they did not want to kill anymore innocent Jews almost as if it were a lose-lose situation. But what are your thoughts about the Allies not bombing the German death camps during WWII?
This is why I say it is a lose-lose situation. If they do not bomb it they will turn the other cheek while the Nazis continue killing Jews.
