Do you think because it was a two seater? The car is really a nice looking car and part of it was made by Mercedes (I heard). I'm just wondering what made the sales so low.
There was several reasons.
1. It was overpriced. The Corvette had about 100 hp more, handled better, and had a higher quality interior for the same price.
2. 2 seaters aren't practical for most. Unlike the Vette this car had almost no storage area.
3. It was old technology. It was the previous generation Mercedes SLK combined with a few extras from the Mercedes parts bin.
Small interior, poor reliability, very expensive Mercedes-Benz parts, kind of poor performance for a sports car and it was overpriced...and Chrysler has had trouble with sales for years.
