Why do you think J.K Rowling is a good author?

First off: JKR is a she
Just so you know (:

And I think she's a good writer because she made a totally original, out-there story, but it's also totally believable.
As a reader, I try and find books that have good twists and turns as JKR's do.
Um, I'm not much of a writer.

But I just love how they twist and turn and get complicated.
And how if you tried to explain it would sound ridiculous, but they're literary crack and they're amazing :D

It's not easy to explain.
Like trying to explain how water tastes(:

The writing was well done and easy to understand, the characters are sympathetic and memorable, the plot is solid and she has consistency with her mythology and the rules of her world.

Harry Potter has a complex plot with original characters and great morals. (Explanations below).

Complex Plot:
She managed to create an extremely large a complicated series with VERY few plot holes. It's also a very *interesting* plot.

Original Characters:
With the exception of Harry himself, most of the characters were brilliantly created! Seriously, how many Hermione like characters do you know? Very few to none! She is just one of many (Dobby, Voldemort, Draco, and so on).

Great Morals:
Moral from GOF was to trust what your dedicated friends say over what someone else says about them. Ron doesn't trust Harry when he says he didn't enter his name into the cup.
This also occurs in OOPT when Seamus begins reading the paper and believing that Harry is lying and simply speaking of Voldemort for attention.
In the final novel, DH, we find out Dumbledore killed one of his best friends (Grindewald) because he was a murderer. This reflects the idea that sometimes one must do things for the better of everyone else. Dumbledore also presents this idea in HBP when he sacrifices himself to ensure that Snape is trusted and thereby help Harry defeat Voldemort.
