Why do you think God wanted us to have such a variety of dogs?

It's true that we wanted it and made it happen, but God would have authorized it for some reason.

look at cats..not much variety there
all cats serve a similar purpose - they are predators
I know that breeding includes selection of traits. I'm just wondering why canines have more capailities and purposes than other four footed animals, like cats.
