Why do women incessantly complain about their boyfriends if they're not going to do...

...anything about it? Furthermore, why would a woman bother complaining repeatedly (and apparently sincerely) to a seemingly better-matched male whom she admittedly would likely date "if circumstances were different", if she has ALSO made it perfectly clear that she doesn't want said male to attempt any kind of intervention?

You may be tempted to say "she's just playing games" or "entertaining herself", but I'm looking for a more substantial answer. If you really believe that game-playing is the only possible reason, then please offer some insight into the psychology of such game-playing.

It seems young girls, or girls that lack a sense of sophistication/ maturity, go after these guys that can/are total dicks, or braindead just because they like the feeling of having a good looking confident guy around them to take care of them. They complain to guys they aren't honestly interested in (perhaps because they are too superficial to be seen with the guy they complain to, but aren't willing to admit it, hence say "if things were different..." _because they can complain to them, confess and not feel like they are being dishonest to their badboyfriend (because being dishonest goes against their morals/ they don't want to be considered or feel like badgirlfriends)
