I'm very interested in the phenomenon known as "white denial"---wherein a white person who does not encounter racism
at the same rate ppl of color do, feel qualified to tell minorities about what minorities are going through
Tim Wise, Americas most famous White anti-racism activist, said that in the case of Blacks, white ppl do not think Black ppl have the intelligence to know when racism occurs, so they automatically think unless the racism is overt (like in the case of the Rodney King beating , or when a Black guy was shot by white cops 50 times for reaching for his wallet to show them I'd) they think blacks are making it up
In fact, even when White Liberals say racism against minorities exist, there are white ppl who still refuse to believe them, even when they present studies and statistics on everything from housing discrimination , police brutality, education funding, there are white ppl who still deny it's existence
It's not unlike a woman complaining about sexism, and a man telling her she's hormonal
Or a poor person complaining about classism, and a rich person saying they are just stupid or lazy
In short, most minorities say America is extremely racist, most Whites think America is not racist at all and minorities should stop trying to convince them otherwise
Mind you , this is how the Holocaust started, everyone refused to believe that Jews were being put into concentration camps, until one day trains showed up carting huge numbers of gay Germans, old ppl, Jewish Germans and Gypsies to Auschwitz
