Say what you want, but from what I have seen with my own eyes living in both US of A in living in Europe and traveling, they tend to look older. The teenagers look like they're in their twenties. Fourteen year old kids look seventeen to me. It's very odd! Could it be the way they dress? Since American just slap a t-shirt on, jeans, and some flip flops with little to no makeup. IDK, strange!
