Why do we pay so much?

According to the CNBC report, every person in America pays $400 every
year in raised costs due to shoplifting.

The biggest portion of that cost is theft prevention. Cameras and
security personnel. And they are an expense that is costing us
whether anyone shoplifts or not.

My faulty memory says that the combination of tariffs, trade

Sorry, but this is just weird: "One out of every 10 of us shoplifts often."
Really?!

Okay... I stole a pack of gum when I was around seven. And I stole a tube
of lipstick when I was 14. Mea Culpa! But I'm now 50 and, sorry to be a
non-conformist, but no I don't shoplift. I find it hard to believe one in
ten. I do agree we all pay for those five-finger discounts. But it's more
and more difficult for people to shoplift what with security cameras.

Yes they do. Most of what's shop lifted are items that go into the
trash, those sickos still need to buy most things... most shop lifting
is done by Kleptos.

A lot of it is purely because of the entitlement mentality some folks
have. Store owner obviously has more stuff and that is "wrong" so they
are entitled to take what they want.

Maybe think that out a little more. I doubt you will be making your own

And tangential to shoplifting: I remember a while back when an
acquaintance had his car stolen. He absolutely chortled when
recounting the non-existent camera, camel hair overcoat, etc. that he
reported as having been stolen along with the car. IIRC, I said
something along the lines of, "You're proud of that, are you?"
