Many of them involve MISusing one or more articles of clothing so since we paid for them with our hard-earned money, why do we do it? i.e. slashed jeans, torn shirts, etc.
Why do we even care about fashion trends?

WHAT fashion trends..? Hats on backwards...? Hats off on the side..? Hair longer than J.C. EVER had..? Flip flops..? Disgraceful looking jeans and shorts...? Hats with the price tags still on them...? T shirts that make one look like a walking billboard..? Shoes / runners that are even worn to weddings and funerals, and grads... EEEE Gads...!!!
What a messed up society.... Whatever happened to guys looking like guys, and women looking like women...?

I so don't do fashion, what's the point, really. Regular jeans here 5 bucks, "fashion" jeans 39.95, just so you can have the privilege of having them come pre-torn, um no thanks.
Seriously though, the some people care about the trends, I think, because they worry more about what other people think of them that what actually matters, who they are as a person. So they run with the crowd and buy or misuse what ever is currently "hot". Oddly all those "out" clothes I have kept for so long because I just like them(my old Duster jacket, waterproof and functional, for example) are actually starting to be in fashion LOL go figure! These things run in cycles too! Torn jeans were popular in the 80's, mini skirts in the 50's and 60's, ect.

Fashion trends don't last as long because everyone ends up doing something different trying to stay away from them and not end up looking like a tool. The best thing anyone looks good in is something that complements your body and you feel confident in. It shouldn't be for anyone but yourself.
