Why do we add pickles with hamburgers?

It's just a part of the traditional hamburger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger

The first person to ever start putting a juicy ground beef patty in between two buns probably just really liked pickles and thought their salty/twangy flavor would be a good compliment...and it stuck!
 
it's just the tradition, pickles, ketch-up, mustard, onion,
All things that have been traditionally put on hamburgers.

such as putting crutons automatically on salad.
 
i dont know.... i've always hated pickles so i just take them out, but i never really thought of that
