Why do US army soldiers have to obey commanders?

I thought this is a free country and we have freedom of expression

Why can't a US army soldier say "I am a soldier of peace!!!! I REFUSE to obey the commands of my lieutenant!" If asked to fire my weapon, I will scream over the commander and say "STOP FIRING!!!!"

And this one soldier when ordered to fire at the enemy in Iraq or Afghanistan can say "STOP!!!!!!! Don't FIRE!!!!!!!!"

Then he can go over and walk over to the enemy and stick out his hand and try for a truce or a peace negotiation and be a hero?

Why don't individual soldiers make solo efforts like this for a peace negotiation?

USA is a free country, so why do US soldiers simply obey their commanders? Explain this
So in the military you're not allowed to express yourself?

What if you are reading your bible in your military quarters and it says to LOVE your ENEMY.

So then you act on it and you put down your weapon and you join the enemy because Jesus said to Love your Enemy. So why is that bad?
But what if there's a draft?

Why does anyone have to honor the terms of a contract they enter into ?

If you don't want to follow the orders of your commander, simply don't join the military.

Yes, all members of the American military are bound to follow all lawful orders of the officers appointed over them. That is why the system works.

And if someone was a "soldier of peace", they would probably not join the military.

And what kind of idiot would shout "stop firing" when people are shooting at you? All that would happen is you would get your own people killed. Do you think soldiers want that?

BTW. I am guessing you are a student. Because if you had a job and felt like "expressing yourself" all of the time, you would probably be fired.

>There is no draft and will not be one in the near future. Grow the frak up!
