Why do TMZ paparazzi ask so many questions?

I watched a few videos and noticed that they ask loads of questions to the celebrities. They had a Tom Brady video and asked about his son and the patriots. Do these reporters and paparazzi really care? Why do they try to make conversation with the celebrities, if all they want is the picture? I don't understand why they try to speak to the celebs. Why do they?
