why do the locals talk "funny"?

I moved to Skegness from Australia but am having trouble understanding the locals. They are also IMHO not very friendly. have I made a mistake in coming here ?
 
They sound funny because their accent are different from yours. Maybe you should get to know them more since you said that you just moved in that place.
