Why do the headlights on my Honda Civic blow out about every four months?

I use a high quality, silverstar light bulb for my low beams, but they blow out about every four months. The car was brand new when I bought it just over three years ago, and I started having problems a year and a half after purchase. Since then I have replaced the head lights about five times. I do not touch them when I reinstall, but for some reason they blow out with no rhyme or reason. Help!!
 
to the best of my knowlege it sounds like an overcharge problem
have the charging system checked
it should e around 13.7 volts +or- a couple tenths
or if you have a good sound system check for voltage spikes common with loose grounds
 
Are you touching them with your bare fingers? The oils on human fingers can cause premature bulb failure, or maybe you have a hole in your headlights thats letting in moisture?
 
Check and see if any moisture had entered into the light housing. This is a common problem with short bulb life. Vibrations are another cause. is the foam gasket for the bulb socket in good shape? It has to be tight fitting as well. The headlight housing should not be loose either. Perhaps the silverstar bulbs are not as good as advertised. Try changing the brand. So called high quality bulbs are brighter but also are a higher wattage and are hotter. This significantly reduces the life of the bulb. Use the manufacturers specified OEM replacement.
