When thousands of years before china had a written language, there was flourishing such as the
Sumerians:
Who had the first written language in 3500 b.c.e
And arithmetic
and the first abacus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abacus around 2700 b.c.e
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumer
Egytians:
Building massive structures still standing today predating the shang dynasty. And having the first sail boats around 3500 b.c.e
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Egyptian
Or the Minoans:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoan_civilization
many ancient inventions also such as:
First use of bridges in egypt
Candles
Glass
mirrors
Pluming
Algebra
the battery: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Battery
First mechanized humanoid robots during the islamic golden age: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot
I mean the first written records in china began in the shang dynasty around 1500 b.c.e thats 2000 years after the Sumerians.
I am only stating this because lately I have come across alot of chinese who claim they started civilization spreading throughout the world, and that they are by all means the greatest. I feel that this is very arrogant.
I am no way putting down Chinas great and powerful civilization, which has brought rockets, gun powder, wheel barrow, compass and much more. Yet I feel as though many chinese think of all other civilizations as barbarians and we only have civilization because of China which is just not true.
There are still ancient monuments predating the shang dynasty that stand today a testament to the wests architecture that still leaves people in awe.
Chinese people call Westerners are lazy but we invented every electrical technology we use today from light bulbs to computers to even going into space and walking on the moon.
I am not stating this as bragging, I just felt like lately I have encountered many Chinese who look at western civilization as inferior and not as old or great.
Sorry for the gramatical errors I forgot to read it carefully afterwards and it will not allow me to edit it.
