I am a male in grade 11, and although I am reasonably successful academically, I struggle to understand social concepts that others my age know intricately. It is fascinating actually.
Concept 1: Dating
This one is by far the most intriguing. I cannot find a reason for why it occurs, nor the benefits of it. However, I have found many drawbacks to it. (Please correct any erroneous information I have.) The drawbacks are listed below.
- Activates brain chemicals which cause emotions. Emotions affect judgement.
- If sex is involved, one can become pregnant (if a girl) and either can contract an STD/STI.
So why do teenagers partake in this activity? What benefit do they derive?
Concept 2: Dances
My educational facility often hosts dances for students. What purpose does this serve?
Concept 3: Drug Usage
Drug usage is irrational so why is it so prevalent? Why would someone destroy their mind willingly?
Concept 4: Affection for animals.
Many of my peers have this fascination with animals and adore them. Why do people get attached to animals? They are tools to further humanity.
Emotions only detract from the logical part of the brain. I am not perfect in this regard, since it has been 2 years since a started eradicating them, and they keep resurfacing. Any way to finally kill them off? Medications?
Fun does not cure cancer, happiness does not cure HIV, romance does not end world hunger, and dating does not form a peace treaty in Israel. Logic does.
I respect the right to self-determination, but why do teenagers live their lives like this?
