Why do some video games have an anti-industrial theme?

It doesnt add up to me. If we didnt have technology, then video games wouldnt exist. It seems to be very contradictory.

This is rather obvious in the oddworld series.

And even the warcraft setting has this theme, though its a bit more subtle about it. Ppl in the series use arcane magic to create extravagent paradises for themselves, which ultimately leads to ruin and mass destruction. The night elves did this one, nearly destroyed the world, created a crater as big as an ocean (literally), and then refused to use arcane magic at all, replacing it with druidic magic. Its subtle, but its there and overly prevalent. You also sortof see this in the shamanism of the works (though in their case, they're rejecting demon worship and replacing it basically with nature worship).

Why does warcraft depict nature worship in such a positive light anyway? ppl in industrial counties like ours cant relate to stuff like this. we've never lived close to nature, the seasons mean little to nothing to us. in our world, survival is a matter of aquiring enough money rather than growing or hunting for food.

Why do so many games do this? It makes no real sense. And its not like a 'return-to-nature' would actually be a good thing. yes, it has its advantages, but it would also mean maximum lifespans being limited to 50 (most of the time, not even 30), and infantile mortatility being so absurdly high you have to have over 10 children just to have one or two survive long enough to have children of their oown. overall, it would mean wide-spread death, the population of this entire planet plummeting to just a few million individuals (rather than the 7 or 8 billion that live to that, that would mean only 1 out of every 1000 people would survive).

I just dont get it...
