Why do some people reinvent history & falsely claim that Michael Jackson " paved the way for black entertainers " when hundreds of black entertainers, such as Nat King Cole in the '40s & Sammy Davis Jr. in the '50s, actually paved the way for entertainers like Michael Jackson long ago ?
I am old enough to remember how amazing and popular Nat King Cole was. Nat was an enormous talent who was the very first black entertainer to have his oen TV show.
 
It fits their point of view. It's like when people do a poll, asking the questions to get the results they want.

Jackson was a great talent but without many entertainers before him the Jackson 5 would have just been 5 brothers getting together.
 
I think they're referring to some specific things like MTV wouldn't play black artists until Michael made Thriller and then they had to play it.

And I think Michael Jackson had far more crossover appeal than the people you mentioned, even though they were very talented in their own right.

No one, black or white or whatever , was as big as Michael Jackson, never will be...
