sperm cells? When arguing against a human fertilized egg's right to life, pro-choicers often mention that human males regularly make millions of sperm cells that die. What would be the point of such an argument? Isn't the distinction between a sperm and a fertilized egg obvious? Is this argument a response to a technical definition of human life(cells are alive, human cells are human, therefore human cells are human life)? If it is, it's important to note that 1) Fertilized eggs are diploid cells that are formed by the union of two haploid cell ingredients(egg and sperm), so they contain the complete genetic information needed to develop a human body. 2) Sperms and eggs are naturally designed to live short lives and die in reproductive processes or from lack of use(sperms die in testicles after a certain period of time). The process of life for the reproductive cells is different than the process of a fertilized egg, and that is what distinguishes them in terms of rights.
