Why do some people always take bad pictures?

I am not a bad looking guy. Lots of girls say I am hot and I think I am to. BUT I seem to only take good pictures like 1 out of every 30 or so taken of me. I was out at the bar this weekend and had about 10 taken of me and I maybe had 1 good picture. I really hate it because the pictures are online and just give a bad impression of me...why are some people like this when it comes to pictures?
 
The results of being shot by your friends using a P&S camera can be your problem ... using a wide angle lens can distort your features.

Try having a pro shoot you using the proper lens in a good lighting situation ... I am sure you will notice the difference.

BTW "taking the picture" is the photographers job, posing for it is yours.
 
"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" and you maybe more critical of the images than others. Check that out with your friends and see if they agree with your assessment. You mention that 1 out of 10 images looked good, not a bad average considering the pictures weren't taken by professionals.

Quite candidly, it is difficult to look at pictures of yourself as you see the image totally differently than you usually see yourself in a mirror. When you look in a mirror everything is reversed (left is on right) and when you look at a picture it is how others see you (left is on left). This could mislead you as you are not getting what you expect.
 
There are many factors that could effect the outcome of any picture taken from the camera used, the lighting conditions, the camera settings, to at the very least the person taking the picture. That being said, I have no idea why. Maybe you just suck at being photographed, maybe you pose awkwardly, maybe the camera sucks, or maybe the person taking the picture sucks. Who knows? Who cares, really...

Maybe you should wear a paper bag over your head. Or try having your picture taken by a professional and note the differences. Though the photographer is responsible for taking the picture, it is your personality that will show in the final image. Maybe you should practice different expressions in a mirror before being photographed. Physics, this ain't...
