Why do some Christians whine so much, when all I do is follow their basic rule?

As I've learnt, the most important rule of Jesus was basically "treat others like you want to be treated".

I don't expect anybody to respect my beliefs. I don't even expect anybody to take my beliefs seriously. If my beliefs get mocked, it shows me how strong my own beliefs are. They can obviously handle being mocked.

So, I follow Jesus' big rule, and treat others like that too. If I find beliefs ridiculous, I say it, because that's how I want to be treated as well. I assume my mockery shows others how strong their beliefs are.

Did I interpret Jesus' Big Rule wrong?

Why do you believe there is a basic rule..you don't make sense.

god loves you...god bless

And to love one another: A hard thing to do, but by following the golden rule you're doing the best you can. And that's all can be asked of any of us.

I think, though, that you're wrong about one thing: Everyone should respect everyone else's beliefs (as long as it doesn't involve harming people). What one person finds ridiculous, another bases his or her life on.

So I would take the golden rule a step further. You don't mind being mocked, made fun of, because of what you believe. Other people do. And why spread antagonism like that? A heated debate or intelligent argument is one thing, but just making fun of people?

Perhaps Jesus should've added a word about kindness. Surely that's in agreement with the spirit of his teachings. That's the flaw in your belief.

Then you knock out the bigger rule...

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind...

Can't take one without the other right??!!

If you don't love Jesus, why follow His rule.
