i have seen this many times on TV in american films/tv shows. i believe it is to do with the predominant use of automatics there.
often the car will stop, the engine turn off and then the car rolls a couple of inches.
i can imagine this is because the driver is leaving the car in Drive and the movement is just the slack being taken up when the engine is turned off.
if that is the case, why don't people apply the parking brake?
this is something i have noticed a lot throughout the years
has anyone else noticed this?
what MAD says, thats very interesting. how can i fijnd out more information about that?
Thank you. People are confirming what i thought, that the car is being left in Park without the handbrake being applied. How lazy! Manufacturers should change the design of the gear box so this can't be done!
