Why do soccer players fall to the ground and flop around and whine like idiots when...

...they are not actually hurt? I am currently enjoying the Spain/South Africa Bronze medal match in the Confederations cup. I do enjoy soccer, except for the flopping. I find it quite embarrassing and very ridiculous.

They're trying to make a tackle look worse than it was to get a free kick or get a player carded. It's cheating. It could easily be stopped if video replay technology was allowed, the referee could just look at the replay and see clearly whether there was a foul or not, but for some unknown reason, the people in charge of the game are completely opposed to introducing this, despite it being wanted by most of the fans.

It gives you a freekick! you know how prescoius that is in A WORLD CUP. Sometimes you can get carded if the ref knows you are faking. i do it all the time and this one time i fell like trip (idk y though0 and their was a girl next to me and the ref thought she fouled me so we got a free kick. but at the end of the game even my coach told me that i fell by myself

They are taught to do this to try to get a foul called. I think it is ridiculous and very bad for the game. Coaches are teaching kids to manipulate the rules and it has now permeated the game at all levels.

It will continue until they start red carding people who flop.
