...illegals ? I'm sick of being called racist or hearing about how the land was stolen from the indians. I'm not racist and I didn't steal any land from anyone. I was born a u.s. citizen and so were my parents. I've lived here paying into this country my entire life. Illegals have not. And a large portion of them never bother to try to become legal. So why should my taxes ensure them all the free housing, medical, food, welfare, tutoring, etc. when I can't even get free anything when I need it?
And we're living in the present so don't bother with comments about what was done before my time and try using some common sense when responding. Do you go around giving out free money when you don't have any? Why should the u.s. for illegals? It frustrating to see illegals get a free pass on our dollar when the gov., etc. won't give legal citizens a break.
All of your answers are wonderful. I appreciate the honesty. And if it makes any difference, I am about as mixed as you can be. Mexican, Irish, German, Chinese and Cherokee Indian. I have been to the poorest parts of Mexico and have seen how hard it is for them. If you were aware of what I have experienced in life you may be shocked. Unless you live in a bubble, most of you know that every person has had struggles (to say nicely). Does this mean that I cannot express my frustration with being a victim of identity theft and going through hell every year with the irs? My ss# is used by the same person in another state every yr for employment only. I find it horrid that for all the talk I've heard about id theft being a crime, etc.- nothing is done about it. As a matter of fact, taxes pd to our gov. from id theft are held by the irs and given to the illegal felon when, and if, they get their own ss#. This is not my opinion, I'm stating facts.

I wonder that same thing myself and BTW this is an OUTSTANDING question! Ive also been looked at as somwwhat of a racist in college when i voice my opinion about the illegal thing. UR NOT ALONE BUT KEEP FIGHTING! GO GIRL!

I don't think people call U.S. citizens "racist" when discussing illegal immigrants.

If you dislike or hate them for pecuniary (or legal) reasons, you are not racist; if you dislike or hate them for being outsiders, different, "not of your race," you might be boderline, or just might be.

It is a pity however that we separate ourselves with all these nationalities, when we are all ultimately fellow beings, but we fail to treat each other as such. These people have it hard as well, but maybe not the way you're experiencing, they're risking everything to make lives better for their families and themselves. First of all, don't generalize these people as delinquents and major criminals, not everyone is like that. Do you know how hard life is for them? Do you know what the have been through and are battling right now? A misconception is that all illegals are Latin Americans, when there are actually many from all over the world--China, India, etc. It's not entirely a free pass for them. They don't just come here to free load--they don't lounge about on a vacation while you feed them bonons; many of them work hard and contribute to the economy, and live daily in fright of being taken away and endure mistreatment--racism, exploitation, etc.

Another misconception is that most taxes go to help the poor, that is not true; in fact the receive smaller portions when compared to senior citizens--now they get some hefty benefits from the government. You can't really control where you're money goes, it goes everywhere. I don't see many people inquiring about how theit taxes funded the extermination of people in the near east. Yes, your money also goes to aiding into war, into agencies, and so on.

Well, from what you state I don't see anything racist, but do you make any other comments? Like "I want these dirty Mexicans out of here"? Now that is racist. Kicking people out of your country isn't, but there are more factors that come into play, bigger factors than money, that is detrimental to humanity. Nonetheless peple justify themselves to want others out. Whatever. I suppose people call you racist because the find you inconsiderate of others, and want to kick all these foreigners out; you might seem a bit xenophobic, but if you truly aren't racist, and try to steer clear from making racial slurs and what not, don't worry about it. Once again what the question comes down to is: Do you want them out just because they are from a different race and don't deserve to live in the USA, or if they shouldn't be here because...they aren't allowed because they haven't met certain procedures? Or as others go around and say that they just don't want to waste their money on people who they believe don't deserve it?
Try asking the person who accuses of being racist, on what grounds the accusations are made.

They don't know about the illegal aliens from Europe, Asia, and Africa. They also don't know how many white Mexicans there are.
