Why do road bicycle's have no kickstand?

I agree they don't way much. The main point is they simply aren't needed. It just a piece of equipment that may get in the way and fail by getting in the spokes for example after a crash etc. MTB riders don't use them either for the same reasons. There's almost always something to lean the bike on. Heck half the kids with kickstands on their bikes drop there bike on the ground anyway.

some touring riders do have them. for the most part, serious riders spend a lot of money to save weight. they wont carry anything they dont need, and you dont need a kickstand. lean it against something or lay it flat out of harms way. why would you want to lug around a kickstand for a hundred miles?
