Why do Republicans attack Democrats and Democrats attack Republicans?

I gave up on the election because if McCain's campaign couldn't stop attacking, Clinton's campaign wouldn't stop attacking. Why do these parties fight each other? Just present the facts and move on. What do you think my fellow Answerers!
 
Cause they think of politics as a sports arena. It's the new All American Sport.When I say they I mean the people. McCain and Obama had to attack each other to get the attention of all you fools.
 
They are politicians who are no better than five year olds who can't live with each other for 5 minutes without arguing.

because both sides believe in different things... and when two people agree on different things they attack eachother trying to prove who right and who's wrong.. its crazy!!!
 
It's stupid, yes, but it's always been this way. Things were even less civilized 100 years ago. I guess they are just trying to get peoples' attention.

I think there is nothing wrong with debate. However, unreasonable, malicious accusations are just stupid.
 
The Democrats will never follow your precepts my son. They believe in perpetuating the lie until it is believable. The Democrats accused Ronald Reagan of trying to do away with Black Lung payments to miners when all he wanted to do was have the coal companies pay their share as a punitive damage for not making the air clean in the mines as ordered by law. They ragged on Pres. Reagan the whole time he was in office.
 
If you have an interest in politics, chances are you are passionate about your views. The GOP and Democratic Party are polar opposites, so it's to be expected that they bicker.
 
This is because political parties are inherently detrimental to democracy. This is why George Washington disapproved of political parties. Washington warned that the polarization of political differences would divide the nation. The birth of political parties (the emergence of the Federalists and Democrat-Republicans) began because people could not agree on whether or not to have a national bank. The Federalists wanted the bank, and the Democrat-Republicans did not. Thus, the two-party system was created, and has been ruining politics ever since. Why did nobody take George Washington's warning seriously?
 
Because democrats are wrong. They don't use logic or reason, their whole ideology is based on "fairness." They want to take property and money away from people who worked for it, and give it to people who didn't. Raising taxes creates jobs in their minds. Those evil rich people who democrats are constantly berating, not only do they all ready pay the lion's share of the taxes, but they are our employers. Without employers, there aren't any jobs. Empty buildings that used to house factories don't generate tax revenue. Would you stay at your job if your employer stole half your paycheck every week? No of course you wouldn't but they expect businesses to come here or remain here while we plunder half their profits for the government to waste on their unconstituional social programs.
 
Because it is no more Republican and Democrat. It is right wing and left wing. That would be the more radical portion of the parties, you see. Our parties have been hi jacked by people that want to fight over wedge issues rather than take care of the country.
 
I KNOW.....It used to be Ford against Chevy against Dodge and we were laughing and having a good time. Now we have to deal with Toyota and Nissan dorks.
