Why do politician sex stories get so much attention?

They are blown out of proportion and the media causes them(politicians and other VIP's )so much embarassment to a point that they can never live a normal life again!
Yea I am talking about Mark Sanford
Dont all of us do it? I mean why to make it such a big deal.....?

Because most are pompous and grandiose and the little people like to chop off their heads. It's been that way forever.

Hey... I didn't say it was fair. But ask the Czar or King of France... they'll tell you it's true.
 
Because we like hearing dirt on the high and mighty people in the world. It's sad but true, personally i ignore all that and listen to the proper news around the world.

And the amount of embarrassment it causes is unfair as they are still human and have desires.
 
I guess people assume that a position in politics means you have some capability for ethical reasoning. If a man who is in a position of authority can make such reckless decisions in his personal life, who's to say it wouldn't carry over into his work.

It may also stem from this nation's puritanical beliefs. Monogamy has become socially expected. Any action moving away from what is expected of a man, esp. in his position, is morally questionable.

The media also has a tendency to sensationalize stories of this nature and who doesn't love a good scandal. We are all human and undoubtedly have a double nature. Anything that stirs up a reminder of this can be cause for controversy.
 
yeh we all love to hor around. im a male so especially me. its just that people from the press and media put all this out and dont tend to look at themselves in the mirror first before destroying sum1 they dont even know personally. its a fuckedup world
 
Sex sells. Its just silly.
As far as Sanford goes, his sex life should not have any direct connections to his job and if he should be governor or not. BUT....running off and leaving the country without telling anyone where he was going is where he messed up.
Throw the bum out of office for that-not over the sex crap.
 
It's kind of a big deal to news people to see a higher-up person fall. But politicians are connotative (the feelings that arise when the word is brought to mind) in that they expect them to be angels, so when it doesn't happen the media swarms on them. Besides, some reporters are being left out of the "Michael Jackson" bid, so they're trying to get viewers on their channel with hot South American infidelity.
