Why do photos posted on Tumblr lose so much detail compared to Flickr?

I am trying to post pictures I have on my Flickr onto my Tumblr, however when I do so, the photos on Tumblr appear lacking detail, focus, and color. Is there any way to fix this or is it just based on the fact that Tumblr isn't exactly a photo posting site compared to Flickr.
