Why do people who are ignorant of economics hold strong views on economic matters?

“It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a ‘dismal science.’ But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance.” - Murray Rothbard

It doesn't matter how much the know or should I say don't know but what matters is that they feel good. Ask someone to explain comparative advantage and trade and they can only say jobs are going overseas but they can't explain why the jobs went overseas.

Good question. It's comparable to people who have strong views on religious matters.. but who might truly be ignorant on the topic.

because you don't have to be an economist to tell when your paycheck isn't going as far as it used to
