Why do people try to destroy one another instead of getting together and build...

...something meaningful? people call each other names, use one another, take advantage of one another, steal, lie, kill, take the fruits of our labor (mostly managers, ceo, government, etc.) and yes, we do build things, and I don't mean physical things, but the average person these days either
A) tries to bring people down
B) only helps those really close to them (family) and ignores others
C) complains about problems but doesn't do anything to fix it.
D) lives for themselves.

So Why do people try to destroy one another instead of getting together and build something meaningful?
