Same-sex "marriage" is at the forefront of the gay rights movement's attempt to normalize the rights of homosexuals with those of heterosexuals, overturning centuries of established tradition whereby homosexuals were required to keep their blasphemous acts hidden, protecting society from their immorality....most gays and lesbians do not want to marry each other. That would entangle them in all sorts of legal constraints. Who needs a lifetime commitment to one person? The intention here is to destroy marriage altogether. With marriage as we know it gone, everyone would enjoy all the legal benefits of marriage (custody rights, tax-free inheritance, joint ownership of property, health care and spousal citizenship, etc.,) without limiting the number of partners or their gender. Nor would "couples" be bound to each other in the eyes of the law. This is clearly where the movement is headed.
Studies indicate that homosexual couples have higher rates of promiscuity than heterosexual couples. Allowing gays to marry would make gays seek more partners, and also divorces.

Because marraige is an American right.

If that's the case then atheists shouldn't marry.

we need to finalize the separation of church and state once and for all.

The governments have no right to keep people from joining together legally because THERE IS NO REASON besides 'oh no.'

people always seem to be under the misconception that homosexuals have some sort of a perverse relationship which involves little more than sex.this is wrong.they are as normal as any heterosexual.they would love to share their joys, sorrows, successes and failures with someone too.they would love to have kids and have the regular joys of a family.(if you are wondering how kids?try adoption!)there is no intention and no conspiracy.they just need to NOT be treated as anti social elements.

Only a handful of states have legalized gay marriage. I will estimate that roughly 90% of marriages are heterosexual. The divorce rate is half. If you are so against divorce, look at the heterosexuals.
